Grab partnered with Sprouta to help solve for the business challenges it faced in rapidly growing its operations and workforce in building a high-performance culture and operating model.
Together with our Sprouta partner, Vega Factor, we addressed the complex challenges Grab faced, leveraging the science of total motivation 'TOMO' and the support of Factor AI platform to undergo an accelerated culture and operating model transformative journey.
Grab’s transformation involved scaling to the whole organisation of over 9000 people across the companies South-East Asian markets (10 different countries) to ensure sustainability. This involved coaching every people leader, top - down, to support and drive the change and to create significant impact with their teams.
High performance culture in action
In 2019, Grab was rapidly scaling and aiming to evolve from a successful organisation to a legendary one by building the world's strongest and highest-performing culture and operating model.
With dynamic founders, a clear mission, and top talent, Grab focused on staying agile and focused on solving its business challenges, some of which are also faced by other rapid-growth tech companies, including:
- Reduce attrition, burnout and impact on reputation
- Increase and optimize sustainable high performance across teams and the organisation
- Build a sustainable movement and mission to increase quality engagement - promote mission led over mercenaries in its workforce
- Optimise cross functional collaboration, problem solving, co-ordination and communication among growing teams
- Empower continuous improvement and professional growth
- Attract and develop top talent to be a leading, legendary employer.
Fast growing tech with purpose
Grab, founded in 2012, is one of South-east Asia's fastest-growing tech companies, evolving from a ride-hailing platform into the region’s leading super app for 'Everyday Everything' with services like transportation, food delivery, digital payments, and financial services.
Listed on NASDAQ in December 2021, Grab’s mission is to drive Southeast Asia forward by creating economic empowerment for everyone, which it achieves by empowering 'everyday entrepreneurs', lifting people out of poverty by enabling them to earn a living on the platform.
Headquartered in Singapore, it operates across multiple countries including Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Cambodia. Grab has become a key destination for top talent in the region and across other countries like China and the USA, where it also has talent.
Objectives
The initial objectives of the transformation were to increase motivation to support and improve:
